Vern is a nine year old Border Collie. Vern lives on the ranch with our ranch manager, Bill Walton. Vern has transitioned quickly from unpaid employee to owner. If your see Vern on the property give him the respect he deserves.

He will demand affection from time to time and you are expected to honor Vern’s wishes. Affection can be physical caresses or food, he prefers both. On rare occasions, Vern will growl. Do not be shocked or take this personally. Vern is an indiscriminate growler. He does have bad days but he has never hurt anyone to our knowledge.

Several things we do know about Vern – he loves to be patted by one person but a second person patting him at the same time causes him to growl. He likes women. He has developed quite an affection for Corey’s Jack Russell Terrier, Maddie, but regrettably Maddie has not reciprocated Vern’s affection. This unrequited love might cause him to growl, but we are only guessing.
